AC/DC

AC / DC are a hard rock band formed in Sydney (Australia) in 1973 by brothers Malcolm and Angus Young.Desde the principle became famous live act, thanks in part to the extravagant style of lead guitarist, Angus Young
, Usually dressed in school uniform at concerts. Although they arrived in Britain during the heyday of punk rock, soon gained a huge public acceptance.

Etymology

Angus and Malcolm Young, thought the idea of the band name, after seeing the letter "AC / DC" at the bottom of the sewing machine of her sister, Anne. AC / DC is an abbreviation in English, "AC / DC (Alternating current / direct current), indicating that an electrical device can be used with both types of stress. The brothers felt that this name symbolized the energy and the power of the performances of the band, and the name stuck.

Great Wall of China

One could say that a major civil engineering works throughout history is the Great Wall of China. Yes, this majesty that has left aside the cruelty employed by the various dynasties ruling in its construction, save big curiosities such as:

  • It took more than a thousand years to build, from the third century BC until the seventeenth century AD, not counting the periods in which the work is paralyzed.
  • In its construction, killing more than 10 million workers, which are buried near the wall. For this reason the Great Wall of China is also known as the largest cemetery in the world.
  • Recientemente se descubrieron mas de 2.000 kms de la muralla que habían estado enterrados durante cientos de años.
  • En algunos momentos llego a trabajar en la construcción de tan magna obra el 70% de la población china.
  • The altitude in some places the wall is over 3,500 meters.

The first plastic bridge in the world

In Friedberg, in the state of Hesse in Germany released the first plastic bridge in the world and is ready for use. The bridge is constructed by plates of a fiber reinforced polymer (FRP) mounted on two steel beams and it meets all construction standards of the European Union. Construction costs are relatively higher, but are constrained strongly with lower maintenance costs because, while the traditional bridges need maintenance after 20 years of use, this plastic is estimated to need it after 50 years as does not suffer the effects of corrosion. The bridge is relatively small, has a length of approximately 27 meters, a width of almost 5 meters long and weighs only 80 tons. The parties point are prefabricated and were mounted in a single day. The materials science is a branch of engineering with further evolution, as changing conditions and increasingly demanding that engineers do seek new materials for construction and this bridge is a good example of this.

Burj Al Arab

I have the honor to introduce my influence why I study civil engineering, "Burj Al Arab", a faithful representation of structures in the world.
This hotel is located in the Persian Gulf, the amazing city of Dubai. its name in Arabic means Arab towers.

All two hundred suits, and the rest of the hotel, was done using the best materials in the world, Brazilian blue granite bay, Carrara marble floor and walls, marble Statutario (the one used by Michelangelo in his sculptures) in welcome, precious stones in northern Italy, Arab mosaics, columns and ceilings with gold leaf coating of 22 karat India and so we could go on for tens of lines.

The Burj al-Arab is the symbol of the prosperity of Dubai, the so-called city of gold. A seven-star hotel worthy of a city that is set to become the metropolis of entertainment and pleasure.
